Sophie Houillon, aka So.Ho.

is a Paris-based artist

Over the course of six years of artistic training under the guidance of Beaux-Arts-trained professors, oil painting - through its fluidity and discipline - revealed itself to her as an undeniable calling.

Through her portraits, her figures, at times staged and photographed in advance, move within an underground, often nocturnal world she once intimately knew.

She explores universal themes such as contemporary loneliness, nightlife, love, fleeting encounters, and the desire to escape elsewhere.

At once deeply inspired by the cinematic world and grounded in the contemporary reality, she likes to represent the diversity of humans, the beauty of their uniqueness, but also their inner struggles.

Recently, deeply affected by climate change and its catastrophic consequences, she has developed a sensitive perspective on humanity’s relationship with the Earth. Through her paintings, she seeks to express her attachment to this precious natural world that humankind continues to mistreat.
